With the help of funding from the Missouri Department of Tourism, the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Sikeston-Miner recently contracted for a Conversion Study and Performance Analysis and Profile to be conducted.
The figures were based upon interviews of those who requested information on the Sikeston-Miner area, and then subsequently visited us. These figures indicated that an average of $656 per party was spent during their 1.2 night stay in the area. They also visited the area an average of 1.59 times since their contact with the Sikeston-Miner CVB. This equates to a total spending of $1,042 per party. Of those interviewed, a gross total of $530,000 was spent. The Sikeston-Miner CVB produced a return of $17.17 for every $1.00 spent on advertising.
After studying this information, the members of the Advisory Board, including myself, were very surprised by some of the results which indicated to us where our strengths and weaknesses lie. We now have a clearer idea of where to target our marketing efforts, and to whom they will be most effective.
