SIKESTON -- Larry Floyd, 59, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Oct. 19, 1948, in Caruthersville, son of the late Burlos Allan and Helen (Nolan) Floyd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having been stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. He worked for Harts Bakery and later for Lewis Brothers Bakery, where he was the warehouse manager and union president for 20 years. He was a member and current commander of the Sikeston Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114, Sons of the American Legion and the Sikeston Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2319.
On May 4, 1966, he married Sally Sides; she survives of the home in Sikeston.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jeremy Wayne Floyd and Jamie Lynn Floyd both of Sikeston; one sister, Reba Morgan of Dexter; one grandchild, Jordan Leslie Floyd of Smyrna, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and again from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Jackson, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
