WYATT -- William Lafayette Franklin, 82, died at 2:57 p.m. Sept. 24, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born May 23, 1926, at Cairo, Ill., to the late Harry Arthur and Gertrude Riggs Franklin, he had lived in Wyatt most of his life and had been employed as a terminal supervisor for a number of places including Water Way Oil Company at Birds Point. He had attended the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church at Wyatt and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 23, 1953, he married Wanda Faye Pierce who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Donald Ashworth and Wilma and Kenny Sadler all of Wyatt and Brandi and Michael Dowdy of Wickliffe, Ky.; one brother, Harry Franklin of Pomona, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, William L. Franklin Jr., on Oct. 24, 1974; three brothers, Johnny Dee Franklin, James Robert Franklin and Tommy Lee Franklin; and one sister, Betty Lee Franklin Davis.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth Gibson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston with military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers will be: Phil Rowland, Michael Franklin, David Franklin, Burl Pickett, Nathan Pullen and Cody Pullen.
