SIKESTON -- Paula Gay Evans, 80, died Sept. 29, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 16, 1927, in Charleston, daughter of the late Roy A. and Mozelle Howle Bess, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston and had worked for the SEMO Motor Company in Sikeston before retiring.
On July 9, 1949, at Charleston, she married Lloyd Barton "Beans" Evans who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Merry Gay and Muriel E. Lape of Sikeston; and two grandchildren, Evan C. Hess of Fayetteville, N.C., and Tradd B. Hess of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Ann Howard.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ponder Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ken Mathes, interim pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
