SIKESTON - Sikeston shoe workers voted unanimously to accept a new contract between the International Shoe Co. and the United Shoe Workers of America in a meeting last night at the union hall there.

SIKESTON - Youngsters dressed as their favorite cartoon characters during Wednesday's American Legion Fall Festival Kidde Parade in New Madrid. In the walking and bicycle categories, honors were won by Joey and Thomas Higgerson as G.I. Joe and his tank, third place; Ryan Weeks as Elvis Presley, second place; Trey Halferty and Shane Grissom as Bug Bunny and Elmer Fudd; first place; and Camden Bock as Pee Wee Herman, first place in the bicycle division.

SIKESTON - This week's choice for The Daily Standard's Athlete of the Week award is Chaffee running back Jeremy Dame, who ran for 160 yards in pass receptions and scored three touchdowns as the Red Devils rolled over Grandview 30-0 last Saturday.

BLODGETT - Ruth Andre has been invited to display her gourd-weavings at the Seventh Annual Best of Missouri Market held at the Missouri Botanical Garden Saturday and Sunday. The weavings are a combination of gourds that have been dried and the ancient art of pine needle basketry.

MORLEY - Jennifer Howell of rural Scott County was recently named Miss Morley Fall Festival. Emily Caldwell of Morley was second alternate; Serria Jones of Portageville was first alternate.
