DEXTER -- Oral Fortner, 97, died Oct. 8, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Dexter.
Born Dec. 29, 1910, at Scurry, Texas, to the late William Terrill and Clennie Dill Fortner, he formerly owned a television repair shop at Cardwell and was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ.
On April 23, 1930, at Cardwell, he married Jewell Carlisle who preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1987.
One brother, Clyde Fortner, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son, Robert G. Fortner of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one daughter, Joyce Wilson Lacey of Dexter; two sisters, Opal Given of Lake City, Ark., and Cleo Heath of Paragould, Ark.; four grandchildren, DeRonda Wade, Brenda Mason, Mike Fortner and Tanya Davidson; and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with Don Barr officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
