DOGWOOD -- Billy Vernon Arington, 79, went to be with the Lord at 10:05 p.m. Oct. 7, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 19, 1929, in Windyville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Loula Arington. He was co-owner of the Dogwood Store, served on the Board of Directors at Citizens Bank and also owned and operated his family farm. He enjoyed sharing his wit and wisdom with family and friends.

On Sept. 23, 1950, in Dogwood, he married Marjorie Heath who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Claudia Arington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Stuart Bain and Carol and Jerry Morris all of East Prairie; seven grandchildren and spouses, John and Leslie Allgier, Chris and Teresa Morris, Justin and Jessica Bain, John Arington and fiancee Lauren Thurmond, Alex and Lyndsi Lee, Paul Moore and Stephanie Moore; four great-grandchildren, Laurann and Layne Allgier, Harrison Moore and Delaney Hayes; two brothers, Arlie and Linvel Arington; and two sisters, Dalvie Blumenberg and Alene Baker.

Bill shared his family with Dr. Jimmy Heath and many loved ones throughout the years.

One daughter-in-law, Glenda Arington; one brother, John Arington; and six sisters, Fannie Lay, Vivian Hodge, Janie Hutcheson, Josephine Hendrix, Mollie Blumenberg and Louise Baker preceded Bill in death.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where family and friends will celebrate Bill's life by sharing their memories of him at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shelby Chapel with Linvel Arington and Jerry Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: John Allgier, John Arington, Justin Bain, Alex Lee, Paul Moore and Chris Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Alan Heath, Blake Heath, Brandon Heath, Brian Heath, David Heath, Scott Lindgren, Kelly Ray and H.A. Woodard.
