GIDEON -- Mary Opal Brooks, 70, died Oct. 9, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield.
Born Feb. 13, 1938, in Sikeston, to the late Landon Garvin and Mary Alice Stone Sterling, she was a member of Solid Rock Church in Clarkton.
Survivors include: eight daughters, Judy Hise of Sikeston, Myra Howell of the state of California, Delores Ford of Clarkton, Brenda Wellington of Malden, Joyce Akthar of Kennett, Anita Scheible of Bell City, Barbara Hastings of La Center, Ky. and Shounia Abbott of Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, Curtis Myers of Bernie, Glen Myers of Clarkton and Jerry Myers of Campbell; four sisters, Dorothy Patrick of Charleston, Phyllis Marks of Sikeston, LaDonna Brooks of Kennett and Wilma Lee of Las Vegas; two brothers, Eugene Sterling of Las Vegas and William Sterling of Sikeston; and 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Danny King will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
