MOREHOUSE - Opal Bernice Brashears, 79, died Oct. 9, 2008, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Lamar, Ark., to the late Bradley and Anna (Grace) Carter.
On Dec. 26, 1954, she married Billy Lee Brashears, who preceded her in death June 30, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Brashears and Tim Brashears of Morehouse; one daughter, Sheila Burton of Chaffee; four brothers, Ernest Carter of Telephone, Texas, Delmar Carter of Vanduser, Doyle Gene Carter of Washington state, and Wayne Carter of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Eunice Hudnell of Blackstone, Va., and Wanda Higdon of Morehouse; and five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, Argus Carter, preceded her in death.
Visitation will from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jimmy Vent, pastor of Oneness Pentecostal Church of Morehouse, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley.
