WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Roy Earl Last died on Oct. 5, 2008, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage on Thursday, October 2. His family was by his side. He was 81 years old.
Born in Stamford, Conn., on May 7, 1927, Roy Last grew up in New Rochelle, N.Y., and attended New Rochelle public schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950 from St. Lawrence University, after having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. For the past 41 years he resided in Wellesley.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Linda French Last of Wellesley; his daughter Laura Last, her husband Martin Torgoff, and their son William Torgoff of Riverdale, N.Y.; and his son Douglas Last, his wife Christina Zwart and their sons Zachary and Charles Last, of Wayland.
A funeral service and celebration of Roy Last's life was held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 2 Brook Street in Wellesley. The family will greet friends at a reception after the service in the church parlor.
J.S. Waterman and Sons and Waring Funeral Home in Wellesley is in charge of arrangements.
