CHARLESTON - Jesse Edward "Eddie" Wade, age 70, a resident of rural Charleston, died at 6:38 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Nov. 13, 193,7 in Charleston to the late John Eugene and Willie Mae Downs Wade. He had lived in Mississippi County his entire life and was employed with the Missouri State Highway Department for a number of years until his retirement in 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Charleston VFW Post #4294, the American Legion and a former member of the Charleston County Club where he loved to play golf. He was of Methodist belief.
On May 26, 1961 he married Dorothy Lee Layne who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas "Tom" and DaRonda Wade of Charleston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Wende Jane and Stephen Gorostiza and Jona Lee Wade all of Charleston; one sister, Janet Ruth Richardson of Navarri, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Brandon, Shana, Lee Ellen, Madison, and Stevie Lee.
One brother, John L. Wade, preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Dan Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: John Hardy, Charles Campbel, Don Stinson, Steve Duke, Scott Perry, and Kemp Slaten.
