SPRINGFIELD -- M. Jean Harrington, 80, died Oct. 8, 2008, at her home.
Born Feb. 23, 1928, daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Eva Nolan Altom in Scott County, she graduated from Blodgett High School in Blodgett and Murray State University in Murray, Ky. She taught high school in Oran and Bell Flower, Ill. She then relocated to Coffeyville, Kan .She moved to Springfield in 1972, and she became an accounting instructor at Draughon Business College and Vatterot Business College, where she retired in 1998.
On May 2, 1953, in Coffeyville, she married Robert F. "Bob" Harrington.
Besides her husband, survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bob and Janice Harrington Jr. and Michael Harrington, all of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Kevin Bales of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Shirley Altom McClellan of Sikeston and Laveda Altom Marshall of Springfield; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Altom Minner; and one brother, Frank Altom Jr.
Funeral services were conducted in Springfield.
