ELGIN, Ill. -- Edna L. "Lucy" Kerber, 82, died Oct. 15, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Sikeston, Mo., to the late Edward B. O'Dell Sr. and Zenia Bell Palmer, she attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and graduated from telegraph school in Indiana. In 1945, she moved to Elgin, where she worked for Western Union until 1953. She served many years as secretary/treasurer for the American Federation of Musician local 48.
On March 15, 1947, she married Paul D. Kerber, who died in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by: two brothers, Edward O'Dell and Darrell O'Dell; and two sisters, Ann Allen and Sylvia Van Horn.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Teena and Mike Bolton of Elgin and Jeffry and Connie Kerber Sr. of Elgin; one brother, Theron O'Dell; three sisters, Eleanore Frega, Sue Chapa and Charlotte Schlaegle; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Service in Elgin.
Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Elgin, until time of services at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
