CHARLESTON -- Ida Henderson, 99, died Oct. 17, 2008, at the Charleston Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 9, 1909, in Wolf Island, Mo., to the late Monroe and Hallie Cotton Turner, she lived in Missouri all her life. A member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church at Wolf Island, she was a member of the Mothers Board, Mission Society, was president of the Usher Board and served in many other capacities.
On Nov. 5, 1938, she married Will Cotton, who died in July 1956. On April 8, 1967, she married Thelma Henderson, who died March 13, 1990.
Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Caldwell of East Prairie and Ruby and Roosevelt Menzies of Saginaw, Mich.; and 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Sylvester Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
