LEESBURG, Fla. -- Jerald S. Hodges, 76, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Lake Harris Health Center in Leesburg.
Born to the late John and Irene Hodges, he was was originally from Sikeston, Mo. A member of Providence Baptist Church in Kevil, Ky., Jerald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Jerald farmed in the Sikeston area and later worked as a parts manager for a farm implement company in California. He retired in 1998 to Kevil. The last three years of his life were spent in The Villages.
He has been happily married for 49 years to Peggy Kell Hodges, who survives.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Karen Hodges of Mount Dora; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail and Stan Swanigan of Tracy, Calif., and Lori Rafael of Carbondale, Ill.; four grandchildren, Chris Swanigan, Sara Moore, Nicholas Rafael and Aimee Rafael; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Dittman and Carol Davidson; and three brothers, Warren Hodges, Ronnie Hodges and Keith Hodges.
Besides his parents, Jerald was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Frank Rafael.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Providence Baptist Church. The Rev. Bruce Watts will officiate.
Burial with full military rights will be at Needmore Cemetery.
