SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council today asked why security guards are not patrolling the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation's homeless shelter past 10 p.m. Sikeston Director of Public Safety Mike Phelan said that to his knowledge, no calls have come in about shelter residents bothering neighbors.

SIKESTON - Geraldine Byassee of East Prairie was the winner of $5,000 from the Sikeston Eagles Club and Auxiliary. Byassee's name was drawn during the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center Walk and Auction.

BENTON - Strong support from school and community resulted in a successful book fair for Kelly Elementary. The event earned $917.80. More than 210 parents attended and through the Classroom Wish List program, 70 books were purchased for classroom libraries.
