DEXTER -- James William Lawson, 67, died Nov. 2, 2008, at Dexter.
Born April 9, 1941, at Essex, to the late James Elijah and Hattie Alberson Lawson, he was a committee man for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, Mich.; where he served as a Union representative. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
On Oct. 12, 1963, in Ypsilanti, he married Roena Eunice Nickell, who preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1993. On July 29, 2003, at Dexter, he married Yvonne Gourd, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, James Wade Lawson of Canton, Mich.; two daughters, Surita Robin Sartori and Casondra Sue Ward both of Ypsilanti; two sisters, Treva Porter of Howell, Mich., and Ruth Mouser of Essex; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lane Lawson; two brothers, Virgil Lawson and Gary Lawson; and three sisters, Doris Clark, Louella Baird and Charlene Black.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating. Visitation will continue from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Potter Funeral Home in West Liberty, Ky.
A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Nickell Cemetery in Morgan County, Ky.
