SIKESTON - Many additional officials have registered with the Missouri State High School Athletic Association for this season, according to the October list released by the organization. Two of the newly registered officials are from Sikeston. They are M.L. McElyea and Donnell Waggener.

CHARLESTON - Heavy winds - perhaps a small tornado - caused big damage at the Ulis O'Neal farm near Charleston on Friday. A concrete anchor was hurled atop a combine, a truck was damaged and and implement shed was destroyed.

NEW MADRID - With countrywide races decided in the August primary, Democratic candidates on the New Madrid County ballot face no opposition in Tuesday's general election. Four special issues will be decided, however.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Planning and Zoning Commission will recommend that the City Council approve revised plans for Plantation Acres, a 55.73-acre subdivision.

BERTRAND - Rebecca "Becky" Dillender, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dillender of Bertrand, was crowned 1998 homecoming queen at Westminster College. The ceremony was held during half-time of the Oct. 24 game.

NEW MADRID - Two new teachers are part of the staff at Immaculate Conception in New Madrid. Joining the staff are Kimberlee Richie, who teaches third and fourth grade at the elementary school, and Beth Dill, the teacher for the fifth and sixth grade.

SIKESTON - Mission Missouri's whole reason for creating a soup kitchen was to help feed Sikeston's hungry. Mission Missouri will soon move to a new location at 218 Dixie Street.
