Up close and personal

I heard that Sikeston has passed a law against sagging pants. Is this true? If so, how can you single out this one group for 'indecent exposure'? How about the ladies running around town with their breasts bulging out of their shirts? What about some of the men walking around with pants on so tight you can see their package? What about the women with their midriffs showing or shorts and skirts so short, you don't have to guess whether they are wearing underwear? Let's not just stop at the sagging pants issue. if the law officials and rule makers are really trying to make Sikeston a great place to live, let's not single out one group of people. Let's make sure that everyone has all of their 'personal body parts' covered up, male and female.

Oh, fudge

If anyone knows how to make microwave fudge, please put it in SpeakOut.

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk; 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips; 1 tsp. vanilla. In large bowl, combine condensed milk and chocolate chips. Microwave on high 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 minutes or until melted, stirring once. Stir until smooth, add vanilla and stir well. Pour into greased 9x9 inch pan. Refrigerate until set. Makes 1 pound 9 oz.

No vacancy

I was recently in Sikeston and saw that a few restaurants are getting new buildings. I am especially happy that Taco Johns is moving to that once ugly vacant lot where the old Taco Bell stood. I think that other restaurants should take that approach and use up vacant lots rather than just build behind your old building. I love to see this town looking respectable and not looking like some parts on the other side of town.

Beg to differ

I want to comment on Josh Mills' commentary. I don't think everybody is really that worried about his excitement over the Red Sox being put out. They are not hated near as much as his beloved Yankees. His criticism of the World Series being called the World Championship instead of the National Championship, I beg to differ because the best players in the world are in the major league. All over the world best players are in major league baseball from all different countries. So, it is the World Championship, like our beloved Cardinals have won 10 of.

Deserve the good china

What is wrong with people? I went into a nursing home recently to visit a friend. It was mealtime and I couldn't believe the patients were eating off of plastic plates and plastic glasses. They worked all their lives and they have to live in a nursing home. What's wrong with these employees? Why can't they wash dishes - they have dishwashers. What is wrong with people these days?

Smoking

Would somebody please tell me what is going on at the mini-mall across from the other mall? Every morning when I'm on my way to work you see these people out there smoking. They're in a little huddle. And I mean it's every morning. It's the same ol' bunch of people everyday. What is going on?
