SIKESTON -- Dortha Belle Brown, 79, died Nov. 10, 2008, at her home.
Born July 14, 1929, in Morehouse, to the late Athel Edward and Maggie Reynolds McConnell, she had worked as an operator at Southwestern Bell, a clerk at Big K and also worked for Anchor Toy. She was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church.
On July 26, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., she married Charles Brown who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Wayne and Grace Brown and Timothy and Tonya Brown, all of Sikeston; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Dennis Reed of Sikeston; four brothers, L.C. McConnell, Earl McConnell, Athel McConnell and Gerald McConnell, all of Sikeston; three sisters, Alma Riney and Martha Howell, both of Sikeston and Brenda Vaughn of Metropolis, Ill.; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles David Brown, and two brothers.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. James Trotter, former pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church will officiate with assistance by current pastor, the Rev. Steve Tippen.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
