ESSEX -- Margaret Overbey Lumsden, daughter of the late Buron Overbey and Virginia Luder Overbey, was born on April 14, 1918, in Murray, Ky., and passed to heaven Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Lumsden was a homemaker, attended Murray Public School and Murray State University. For 78 years, she was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Essex.
On Nov. 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold Lumsden in Murray. Mr. Lumsden preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1998.
Survivors include: one son, Stan Lumsden and his wife Annette of Bloomfield; one daughter, Jane Twaddell and her husband Jerry of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Heather Powers and her husband Scott, Clinton Twaddell and his wife Kristina, Lara Thorn and her husband Tony, Dr. Boyd Lumsden and his wife Susanne and Ann Aycock and her husband Brad; and nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Twaddell, Maggie Thorn, Kasity Twaddell, Sophia Thorn, Laurel Powers, Nicholas Powers, Will Thorn, Daniel Aycock and Quin Lumsden.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Overbey Lumsden; and one brother, George Overbey.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Dexter Cemetery.
Interment will follow graveside services.
