Nov. 14, 1948

SIKESTON - Six Sikeston men received their 32nd degrees in the Scottish Rite in ceremonies held in St. Louis last week. The men were Walter Rayburn, Dennis Cline, Paul Schuerenberg, George Proffer, Bill DeKriek and O.T. Elder.

Nov. 14, 1968

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Winters of Sikeston Route 3 were honored on their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house Saturday. They were married in New Madrid on Oct. 23, 1943.

Nov. 14, 1988

SIKESTON - The Daily Standard's Mark Savage received some firsthand experience in teaching. Savage, an elementary education major at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, taught a creative writing class in Geneva Lambert's fourth grade room at Matthews Elementary in Sikeston on Tuesday. National Education Week was an opportunity for Savage to view school from the other side of the desk.

SIKESTON - Gary Riley, treasurer of United Steel Workers of America Local 7686 presented a check to for $3,000 to John Chadd, director of the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center. to fulfill a pledge by the union made during the annual telethon.

SIKESTON - Scheffer's Office Furniture and Business Machines has added Thom Henzi and Jason Ginder to their sales staff. Henzi will work with customers in the Dexter, Advance and Poplar Bluff areas, while Ginder, will focus his attention on the communities south of Sikeston.
