CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Bertha Mae Garrett, 82, formerly of Benton and a resident of of The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, died at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 14, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 4, 1926, in Boonville, Miss., daughter of the late Will and Bertha Mae Garrett Yarber, she was a member of Sandywood Baptist Church and a former member of Old Bethel Baptist Church.
On July 5, 1956, in Cornith, Miss., she married Thomas Garrett, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons, Tommy Caviness of Benton and Jimmy Caviness of Boonville, Miss.; three daughters, Rebecca Caviness of Scott City, Billie Carpenter of Boonville and Linda Brown of Belmont, Miss.; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Visitation is from noon until service time at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morse of The First Assembly of God in Scott City officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Rondell Rogers, Mark Garrett, Rick Jenkins, Keith Klinge, Jim Bill Garrett, Gary Veneable, Michael Rulo and Randy Sorenson.
