SIKESTON -- James L. "J.L." Brock, 92, died at 4 a.m. Nov. 17, 2008, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 19, 1916 in Libertyville, he was the son of the late Frank and Della Porter Brock. Prior to moving to Sikeston in 1983, he had lived for 30 years in Charleston where he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was supervisor of Charleston City Water Works until his retirement in 1981.
In 1935, he married Earline Turner who preceded him in death on March 31, 1971. In 1979, he married Audrey Sweet, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2004.
One son, Bud Brock; six brothers; and one half sister preceded in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and Nedria Brock of Sikeston and Terry L. and Leslie Brock of Belton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Clyde Patton of San Antonio, Wanda and William Hughes of Joplin and Sharon and Jay Kuykendall of Warsaw; four brothers, Gene Brock of DeSoto, C.J. Brock of Anniston, Jack Brock of Sikeston and Leroy Brock of St. Louis; also 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at noonSaturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Larry G. Davis, pastor of Trinity Gospel Church in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Hughes, Brian Hughes, James Brock, John Brock, Brian Brock and Cory Brock.
