Chase ended on a county road in Miner near Rainbow Lake

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety made an arrest after a high speed vehicle pursuit north of Miner Tuesday evening.

According to radio traffic, the chase apparently proceeded east on Highway HH before ending on a county road near Rainbow Lake.

The Miner Police Department was not involved in the pursuit but assisted when Miner Police Officer Will McCormick deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Highways HH and H to help end the pursuit, according to Keith Adams, dispatcher for the Miner Police Department.

"The vehicle went on for approximately a mile with Sikeston DPS officers still behind it," said Keith Adams, dispatcher. "It finally came to stop somewhere out in the county."

Unconfirmed reports indicate the vehicle driven by the suspect was reported stolen from the Days Inn hotel in Sikeston.

Further information on the incident was not available from Sikeston DPS as of press time.
