CHARLESTON - Troy Hayes Scott, 85, died at 5:40 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008, at his home.
Born March 30, 1923, in Russellville, Ark., to the late Bleve David and Ruth Thelma Morphis Scott, he was of the Baptist belief. Following his service with the U.S. Army in World War II, he lived in Collinsville, Ill., where he was employed with E. Jay Trucking Co. for several years until his retirement in 1982. In 1987 he moved to Horsebend, Ark., and in 1998 moved to Charleston.
On Dec. 21, 1948, he married Mildred Pauline Ray who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Bob and Ellen Scott of Festus; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Meyer of Bertrand; two sisters, Jeanette Holt and Bobbye Chambers of Charleston; one daughter-in-law, Mary Scott of Bluemont, Va.; and seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one son, Donald Scott, one grandson, Troy Scott Meyer, two brothers, Amos Scott and Bill Scott, and one sister, Carletta Dunkin.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Jim Malugen, pastor of the First Christian Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
