Commission makes board appointment

BENTON -- A Sikeston man has been reappointed to the Scott County Port Authority board.

During Thursday's regular meeting, the Scott County Commission voted to approve the reappointment of Gene Dement for a four-year term.

This will be Dement's second term on the board.

In other news, in a meeting with elected officials and department heads, commissioners said the courthouse will be closed Dec. 24 through 26 to observe the Christmas holiday.

Also on Thursday, a budget hearing was held. No members of the public attended.
