SIKESTON -- Mrs. Earl Jarvis (Mozelle) passed away Nov. 22, 2008.

She was born in Okolona, Ark., on Nov. 17, 1915, to the late Charlie and Jessie Cloud.

On April 15, 1937, she was married to Earl Jarvis, who preceded her in death. They were in the restaurant business in Hope, Ark., for several years before moving to Blytheville, Ark., and then to Sikeston, where they operated the restaurant in the Dunn Hotel. They later owned and operated Jarvis Motor Company and the El Capri Best Western Motel.

Mrs. Jarvis was very active in the community. She was chosen Sikeston's Woman of the Year. She was also very active in the things her children were in, having served as Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and as room mother for all three of her children when they were in elementary school.

She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, where she served on the church board and was a deacon. She was also chairman of the Women's Fellowship and sang in the choir.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Palmer and Dianne Jarvis of Sikeston; one son, Robert Earl Jarvis of Bertrand; one sister, Laura Miller of the state of California; five grandsons; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A private visitation and funeral service will be held at the Ponder Funeral Home. The Revs. Mary McCord and Ed Pangburrn, pastors of First Christian Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
