Born in Lutesville, to the late Henry and Annie James, he moved to Chaffee from Kankakee, Ill., in 1993. He worked as a boiler room operator in the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Joliet, Ill., from which he retired. He was a member of New Life Gospel Church in Scott City and the Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chuck and Sally James of Fruitland and Donald W. James of Pocahontas; one sister, Nancy Lambert of Jackson; one brother, Hadley James of Arbor; and seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry James; one brother, John "Muck" Jones; and one granddaughter.
Visitation is scheduled at 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services will be held at noon Tuesday. The Rev. Jack Owens will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance.
