SIKESTON - The Sikeston Junior High School held an honors banquet recently for eighth and ninth grade students who made the honor roll. Approximately 400 people attended.

SIKESTON - Mothers and daughters were served punch by Joan Moss at a Girl Scout 6 Star Neighborhood Cotton Boll Council fundraiser for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, a charity organization. More than $600 was raised from the ticket sales.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston 8th and 9th grade boys basketball squads opened their season on Monday at the Sikeston Field House against Cape Central's junior high. The 8th grade team won the opener by routing the Tigers 56-28 while the 9th grade fell to Cape 46-35 in the nightcap.

BENTON - The Kelly Lady Hawks basketball team gave Curt Finley his first win as their head coach last night defeating the Delta Lady Bobcats 52-41 in a conference match up. Kelly's leading scorers were Marissa Essner with 19 and Aubrey Burford with 12. The Lady Hawks were 8-20 (40 percent) from the free-throw line.
