SIKESTON -- Ellis Duerell Henson, 84, died Nov. 22, 2008, at his home
Born May 23, 1924, in Montana, Ark., son of the late William Thomas and Donie Walker Henson, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served seven years during the Korean War. He had been a self-employed plumber before retiring.
Survivors include: his companion of 28 years, Martha Jo Ann Talbert; 14 children and their spouses, Michael and Sara Henson and Pamela and Dave Langton of the state of Texas, Thomas Henson, Darris Kinder, Charlotte Chipman, Barbara and Patrick Squires and Curtis and Kim Merritt of the state of Missouri, Bruce Kinder, Belinda and Don Lerche, Chuck and Este Merritt, Sherry Merritt and Chester Merritt, all of the state of Florida, and Mike and Kim Warren of the state of Illinois; and 39 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Billy Jean Acorn and Beverly Freeman; one brother, Idus Henson; one child at birth; and three grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday at 217 Ruth Street in Sikeston.
