Raymond Boone

HAYWARD -- Raymond L. Boone, 96, died Nov. 25, 2008, in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 8, 1912, in Pemiscot County, to the late P.L. and Inez Edwards Boone, he was honored as a Centennial Farmer. He had been the owner and operator of a grocery store for more than 50 years and was a lifelong member of Hayward Baptist Church.

He was married to Mary Helen Roberson, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were: three brothers, Nellie Boone, Amelia Ward and Daisy Downing; six brothers, Francis Boone, Henry Boone, Norvil Boone, Goah Boone, Buster Boone and Granville Boone.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Dean and Sarrah Pauline Boone Jr. of St. Charles; one daughter, Carolyn Diane Boone of Bakersfield, Calif.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until time of services at 2 p.m. at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. The Rev. Charles Callens will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
