Nov. 26, 1948

SIKESTON - Two Sikeston Bulldog football stars, Ned Tanner and Pat Davis, were named to the Big Eight All-Star team this weekend by the coaches of the conference. On the second team, four Sikeston players, Cole, Humes, Young and Hodges, were picked for honors while Jones was named to the third team.

Nov. 26, 1968

SIKESTON - Gov. Warren E. Hearnes threw the switch to light the Tree of Lights in American Legion Park for the first donations to the Jaycees Christmas Toy Fund Sunday at 2 p.m. The goal of the campaign is to collect, $1,500 to provide toys for 1,400 children, according to Frank Harp and Larry Wilson, co-chairmen of the Tree of Lights.

Nov. 26, 1988

SIKESTON - Pam Manwaring, promotions chairman for the merchants association, put the final touches on the decorations at the mall entrance to J.C. Penney in the Kingsway Mall. Today marks the beginning of one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.

SIKESTON - If the number of people responding to the call for increasing the number of outdoor Christmas lights is any indication, Sikeston should be even more colorful at night this year. Pat Marble, executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, said people have been responding very enthusiastically to the City of Lights program, which is in its third year. This year, the Chamber has called for three million lights to be displayed.

SIKESTON - During Fine-Free Weeks, Nov. 30 through Dec. 11, those with overdue books have an opportunity to bring the items back to the Sikeston Public Library without paying a monetary fine.
