CHARLESTON -- Bobby Eugene Nelson, 69, died Nov. 28, 2008, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Sept. 2, 1939, in the Deventer Community of Mississippi County, to the late Robert A. and Jewell Lillian Lindsey Nelson, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was employed as a truck driver for Pullen Brothers Trucking for a number of years until his retirement in 1996.
On Oct. 14, 1960, he married Mary Ann Sisk, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bud Bowles of Wyatt, Mary Ellyn Nelson and Joseph Tado of Jackson and Susan and Christopher Britt of East Prairie; two brothers, Spencer Nelson of St. Louis and Larry Nelson of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Annabelle Griggs of Charleston; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, J.R. Nelson and Curtis Nelson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Mike McKinney, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
