Your View: Shame on them

Monday, December 1, 2008

Dear Editor:

What a shame that the Scott County Commissioners are placing on the ballot their Initiative for a county sales tax to partially offset personal property and real estates taxes (Standard, Page one, Nov. 21, 2008).

This continues the trend of the Feds and the States for a generation now of devising means of higher taxes for the poor and lower taxes for the wealthy. This subscriber abhors the further widening of the gap between the working poor-lower taxes for the working poor - lower middle - class and the wealthy, a partial explanation for our current deep recession.

Respectfully yours,
Bill D. Burlison
