Dec. 12, 1948

SIKESTON - A total of $2,327.05 was taken in by the city on the auction of the equipment of the former Sikeston General Hospital last Thursday, according to Mayor Marvin Carroll.

SIKESTON - C.T. Keller received a cable Saturday afternoon informing him of the birth of a son to Lt. and Mrs. H.R. Euller. Mrs. Euller is the former Sarah Sue Keller, daughter of the Kellers. The cable was sent from Augsburg, Germany, where Mrs. Fuller is hospitalized.

Dec. 12, 1968

SIKESTON - The Christmas Home Tour, sponsored by the Women's Civic Club, boosted its community youth project budget by approximately $200. More than 200 people toured homes on Tuesday afternoon. The tour was of the homes of Mr. and Mrs. William Moore, Mr. and Mrs. John Sikes, Dr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson and Dr. and Mrs. John Doggett.

MOREHOUSE - A Morehouse residence was damaged by fire Tuesday evening. According to Tim Rowell with the Morehouse Fire Department, the fire was reported at 5:03 p.m. at 212 S. Carroll St. Apparently the fire began in a closet in the bedroom. The blaze was confined to the bedroom with only minor smoke damage to the rest of the house, which is owned by C.D. Alcorn.

SIKESTON - Leandra Ramey, 2, and Tracy Irby, 15, both were named second runners-up and most photogenic in their respective age groups at the Sunburst Pageant.

SIKESTON - Charter members participated in the 50th anniversary of the St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus on Oct. 19. Members were: Urban Hann, Leonard Schumacher, Benny Marshall, Raymond Leible, Albert Kappler; Knights of Columbus Council 3151 First Grand Knight P.J. Schlosser; and Tony Braun, state deputy for 1998-99.
