BENTON, Ky. -- James Thomas Hinds, 81, died Dec. 12, 2008, in Benton.
Born to the late Charles and Ruth Carter-Carson Hinds, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He taught math, biology and agriculture in the New Madrid, Mo., and Crossville, Ill., public school systems and also worked with the Marshall County Refuse Department and the Lourdes Dietary Department.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marianne Lynn of Benton; three sons, John Marc Hinds of Paducah, Matthew Smith Hinds of Elkton and James Michael Hinds; one brother, Charles Hinds of Frankfort; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Benny Morton officiating.
Burial will full military rites will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Benton.
