MINER -- Helen V. Martin, 86, of Miner Nursing Center and formerly of Mississippi County died Dec. 12, 2008, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 22, 1922, in the Bement community of Mississippi County, to the late Clarence William and Flora Irene Smith Presson, she had lived her entire life in Mississippi County where she was a member of the Bridges United Methodist Church and the Lusk Chapel Extension Club.
On May 18, 1940, she married Alfred Herbert Martin who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jerry Martin of Bertrand, Michael Martin of Tyler, Texas, and Donald Martin of Charleston; one daughter, Brenda Heise of Jackson; two brothers, Harold "Bud" Presson of Diehlstadt and Danny Presson of Charleston; two sisters, Dorothy Stewart of Charleston and Betty Haley of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Presson, and one sister, Mabel Grabon.
Services were conducted today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Dan Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, officiated.
Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Dustin Martin, Tyler Martin, Jake Martin, Tim Martin, Chris Kolze and Jim Lovett.
Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Walker and Steve McClanahan.
