EAST PRAIRIE -- Allene Baker, 84, died at 3:20 p.m. Dec. 12, 2008, in the Saint Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau.
Born May 2, 1924, to the late Harvey L. and Loula M. Crice Arington, in the Bird's Point community in Mississippi County, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County where she was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.
On March 4, 1946, at Anniston, she married Lindsay F. Baker Jr. who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Cheryl Baker of Emden, Ill., and Bill Baker and Rick Baker of East Prairie; two brothers, Arlie Arington and Linvel Arington; one sister, Dalvie Blumenberg; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Arington and Billy Arington; and six sisters, Fannie Lay, Vivian Hodge, Janie Hutcheson, Louise Baker, Josephine Hendrix and Mollie Blumenberg.
Visitation is scheduled at 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Martin Lucas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
