Sallie Gentry
BERTRAND -- Sallie Elizabeth Peyton Gentry, 93, died Dec. 15, 2008, at the Bertrand Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 17, 1915, in the Hough community of New Madrid County, to the late Mack Willett and Ruby Ann Anderson Peyton, she had lived most of her life in Bertrand where she was employed at the Bertrand Nursing Center a number of years until her retirement. She was a member of the Abundant Grace Fellowship in Bertrand.
On March 25, 1936, she married Raymond Floyd Gentry who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1986.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Frank Peyton, Dee Tackett Peyton, Mack Willett "Buddy" Peyton and Allen C. Peyton; and one sister, Mariah Peyton Townsend.
Survivors include: two sons, James William Gentry of rural Sikeston and Michael Gentry of Bertrand; one daughter, Carole Rodgers of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. Larry Kirby, pastor of the Abundant Grace Fellowship in Bertrand, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
