CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Frank L.C. Betts, 65, died Dec. 12, 2008, at his home.

Born June 15, 1943, in Charleston, to the late Jim and Mattie Johnson Betts, he retired from ABF Freight in July 2005 and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from Feb. 11, 1963 to June 6, 1966.

On Sept. 15, 1987, he married Betty M. Haynes who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: six sons, Marcus Woods and Thomas Griffins of Cape Girardeau, Darrell Williams of Omaha, Neb., Andra Williams of Oklahoma City, Franklin Walker of Kansas City, Mo., and Andre Dewayne Betts of Columbia; four daughters and a son-in-law, Carol O'Donald, Lavonda Thomas Carter and Valeria and Johnny Jackson of Columbia and Valerie Hall of Charleston; one stepson, Clarence Fisher of Cape Girardeau; five brothers, Herman Betts of St. Louis, William Betts and Jimmy Betts of Charleston and Johnny Betts and Calvin Betts of Kansas City; four sisters, Minnie Betts of St. Louis, Mamie McClory and Carrie Milo of Kansas City and Jean Foster of Earl, Ark.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon Saturday at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston with Steve Betts officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.

Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
