Helen Summers

BERNIE -- Helen L. Summers, 94, died Dec. 16, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Malden.

Born April 24, 1914, at Paragould, Ark., to the late Bertis and Della Jones Causey, she was a homemaker and had been a school teacher for a short time. She was a member of the Poplins Club Homemakers Extension of Bernie and a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church where she served as treasurer.

On Nov. 5, 1938, at Poplar Bluff, she married Ralph Robert Summers who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Causey and Marvin Causey; and two sisters, Marqueritte Causey and Delores Smith.

Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Joyce Hester of Malden and Marilyn Kay and Rod Chana of Springfield; two brothers, Bob Causey and Bill Causey of Sikeston; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
