Joella Thurmond

CHARLESTON -- Joella Moore Thurmond, 74, formerly of Charleston, died at 10:19 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2008, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Born Sept. 22, 1934, in Charleston, to the late James Dennis and Margaret Moore Thurmond, she had lived most of her life in Charleston where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. She had attended the University of Alabama.

Survivors include: one brother and sister-in-law, James Moore and Nancy Thurmond of Charleston; one nephew, James M. Thurmond Jr. of Charleston; one niece Margaret Weiss of Tampa, Fla.; and two great-nephews and one great-niece.

Graveside services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
