Mississippi County will get assistance

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

JEFFERSON CITY - Mississippi County will receive public assistance, due to severe weather and September flooding.

On Monday, Gov. Matt Blunt announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved his request to add of Mississippi and Randolph counties for public assistance, as well as Montgomery County for individual assistance.

"My administration has made disaster response a priority not only when disaster strikes, but in the weeks and months after as we continue to assist Missourians with their recovery efforts," Blunt said in a news release.

Mississippi County local and county governments and certain private non-profit organizations can be reimbursed for emergency response and infrastructure damage due to the September flooding by faxing their Request for Public Assistance (RPA) to SEMA's Public Assistance branch at 573-636-4492.
