SIKESTON - The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow grew much smaller yesterday for the Sikeston Bulldogs as they lost their first game of the Cape Holiday Tournament to Delta, 41-36.
BLOOMFIELD - Selection of 12 grand jury members for the Stoddard County grand jury had not been made at 11:30 a.m. today, Sheriff Ed. Cockrell said. The grand jury was called by Circuit Judge William Billings on Dec. 19.
SIKESTON - New parents were released with their babies Saturday and Sunday at Missouri Delta Medical Center. Mary Taylor of Lilbourn, Carol Pfifer of Matthews and Jean Coonts of Morehouse went home with their baby daughters Saturday. On Sunday, released were Tracie Marks and Donna Rains with their sons, Kelly Passley and daughter from Charleston and Patricia Grandberry and her daughter of New Madrid.

SIKESTON - At the Malco Trio at 7:30 p.m. nightly is Bill Murray in "Scrooged." Also at 7:30 p.m. is "The Naked Gun" with Leslie Nielsen.
SIKESTON - Scott Crumpecker presented Sunshine Steel employees Watson Kimball and Donald E. Dorris with a plaque for their help in the Missouri Bootheel Partners Program. The program is designed to help farmers understand how a nontraditional conservation practice can benefit the environment.

SIKESTON - Bobby Vines vividly recalls the year her son's Christmas list included a hermit crab. "I had one secured in a box that crabs come in, but when I started to put him (or it) under the tree, the box was empty," the Sikeston resident laughed. "After a frantic search, we finally found it under the bed."
