BENTON -- Scott County road crews had a hard time clearing icy county roads Tuesday.
"It's so slick in some areas we can't even get our trucks out to salt the roads," Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger said Tuesday morning.
Burger said county trucks were having difficulty driving on the ice even with tire chains equipped.
"Some of the flatter areas we've been able to navigate and get salt and sand down in the intersections," he said, "but the hilly areas we're having a hard time getting around."
Burger noted that was "not much traffic going around the courthouse" during the regular County Commission meeting Tuesday.
In other Scott County news, county officials elected to take office Jan. 1 will be sworn in at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
