SIKESTON -- Rutha Lawrence Wylie, 91, died Dec. 25, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 29, 1917, near Dallas in Fannon County, Texas, to the late Sam William and Minerva DeWitt Blackshear, she was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.
On March 31, 1935, she married Elvis James Lawrence, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1972. On July 22, 1977, she married J.A. Wylie, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1980.
Five brothers, four sisters and one grandson, Gary Hamby, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Lawrence of West Memphis, Ark., Carroll Wayne Lawrence of Sikeston and Ron and Jan Lawrence of Corona, Calif.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Eualia and Bob Hamby, Dee Yarbrough and Debi and Gary DeWitt, all of Sikeston, and Brenda and Rick Haussman of St. Louis; one brother, Arthur Blackshear of Newport, Ark.; two sisters, Gayle Dunham of Newport and Lavina Pace of Hoxie, Ark.; and 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Robert Hamby, Chris Lawrence, Greg Lawrence, Daryl Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence, Johnny Lawrence, Kevin Miller and Will Yarbrough.
