Born Nov. 10, 1915, in Bernie, son of the late Raymond Medler and Mamye Lucas Medler, he was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, a former inspector with Elder Manufacturing Company and Arvin Automotive and a former presser with Medler's Cleaners in Dexter. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of Kenady-Hanks Post American Legion Post #59 and a resident of Dexter.
Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Putnam of O'Fallon and Vicci and Jim Sweeney of Springfield: three brothers, Glen Medler of Poplar Bluff, Leroy Medler of Costa Mesa, Calif. and Chet Medler of Dexter: one sister, Mildred Wheeler of Dexter; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, R. C. Medler; and one sister, Edith Medler.
Services were held today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Burial with full military honors followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
