PORTAGEVILLE -- Fred Albert Harmon Jr., 84 died Jan. 5, 2009, at his home in Portageville.
Born Aug. 21, 1924, at Lamar, Ark., to the late Fred Albert and Alberta Bradley Harmon Sr., he was retired from the University of Missouri Delta Center and Noranda Aluminum. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville and a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines.
On June 14, 1944, in Benton, he married Thelma Lucille Owens, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and his wife, Stan and Joan Harmon of Aiken, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Harmon Beasley of Brandon, Miss.; one brother, Bob Harmon of Gile Bend, Ariz.; two sisters, Imogene Uptain of Concord, Calif., and Josephine Tate of Oran; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Harmon; two sisters, Hazel Anthony and Mary Gentry; and one grandson, Christopher Hall.
Visitation is at 5 p.m. Wednesday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church.
Burial with full military rites will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
