MOREHOUSE -- Eugene Raymond Harper, 83, died Jan. 5, 2009, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born April 23, 1925, in Visalia, Calif., to the late Henry E. and Ortie Reynolds Harper, he had lived most of his life in the Morehouse area where he was raised by his uncle, Sam Robey. He was retired from the Himmelburger-Harrison Furniture Manufacturing Co. in Morehouse and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and the Korean War.
In 1964, at Bloomfield, he married Maxine Stroud who preceded him in death on March 3, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Louise Dupre.
Survivors include: one brother, James Harper of Festus; his caregiver, Gene Annesser of Sikeston; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Rick Breeden of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
